Clue Shredding Game Designer(s) for a Spring Internship (Boston, MA)
Who We Want (in one sentence): A few creative, driven, writing-oriented paid interns (5K each over the 3 months) to write, develop and promote interactive mobile games using SCVNGR technology (www.scvngr.com). Read on for more about the spring internship program below.
About SCVNGR: SCVNGR is the world’s only enterprise-level geo-gaming platform. We provide the software and infrastructure to power location-based mobile games for institutions and individuals. These games, tours, interactive experiences etc… are played by hundreds of thousands of people via iPhone App, Android App, Mobile Web and even SMS. Over the last year, SCVNGR has been purchased and deployed by over 500 institutions in 46 states and 3 countries with a client repeat rate of over 90%. About the Position / Program: We’re hosting a spring internship program! We are currently seeking 1-2 new Clue Shredders! What’s a Clue Shredder, you ask? A Clue Shredder is a talented, motivated and ambitious person looking to gain some experience working in a fast-paced, high-tech start up and actually make a meaningful impact (paper-pushers need not apply). When you’re not putting your own spin on the traditional scavenger hunt, you will be collaborating with other SCVNGR team members on exciting projects. You’ll report for duty at our awesome offices in downtown Boston but you’re game writing endeavors may take you out and about gathering location based information about your game sites. (Though I must warn you it is hard to leave the office when you have a full sized pool table and ride can ride your bike indoors to get from one conference room to the others!)
The program described below is for our “Not Your Typical Game Writer Internship” program. The program lasts for 3 months and is slated to run from mid March to mid May. (The exact dates are flexible!)
SCVNGR’s software enables anyone, individual or institution, to quickly and easily build sophisticated location based mobile games. We’re looking for a creative (paid) intern over 3 months to experiment with the platform and build exciting interactive mobile games using our software. The games that you build will be played by the public!
We are looking for 1-2 extremely creative and bright interns who are excited by the idea of spending a couple months experimenting with some of the coolest new pieces of technology in the mobile market. SCVNGR games are deployed via text message, mobile web and native phone apps (iPhone and Android) meaning that you will get to build games that make use of live streaming audio and video, real-time GPS tracking and more. (And no, it doesn’t require any tech skills, that’s what the SCVNGR tech team is here for.)
What it does require is great writing skills, a special talent with words, an amazingly creative mind and a love of clues, riddles, ciphers and probably a decent sense of humor. You’ll be building interactive fiction style games that blend digital interactivity with real-world interaction using our state of the art technology to tie it all together.
The program will also include exciting learning opportunities that you can only really get at a high-tech start up. You’ll be fully engaged in the high-tech and start-up community up in Boston, attending lectures and speaking series with some of the best and brightest minds in the world, joining us at local events karate monkey karate monkey if you’re still reading this far be sure to include karate monkey in the title of your email to us where we’re presenting SCVNGR’s exciting business model.

The Media Lab Coordinator will be involved in the following:
Helping recruit and retain low-income residents and youth in Boston, establishing a network of teachers, parents and community leaders to support media programs and organize and oversee activities at the Public Internet Center at the Madison Park Village. Coordinators have a great deal of independence in their work and room for creativity. You will be taking the initiative in media and computer literacy programming, working with youth, teachers, administrators and parents to make a difference in the lives of residents. Activities will include running an after school program focused on digital media production for teens. Specific skills required for this position are writing, research, video production and editing skills as well as web authoring skills. This full-time community service position includes a $12,600 living stipend and an education scholarship at the end of the assignment. Lab coordinators are part of a network of 11 public school sites and the Public Internet Center at Madison Park.
