Summary:

Responsible for the processing and project management of footwear development from 2D designs to final prototypes and sales samples. Will need to successfully turn the product brief, needs of the brand, and the end consumer, into a sample that can be profitably commercialized.

Main Responsibilities/Duties:

• Participate in meetings with the product creation teams during the entire development process. Execute the decision making process that will lead to on-time product confirmation and sales sample delivery.
<br>

• Use effective, direct and clear communication to carry out the product creation process from initial concept, through commercialization and production.
<br>

<br>
• Manage the sample making process with the ability to trouble shoot, identify and resolve any potential fit, function or costing issues.
<br>

• Consistently review and evaluate project status with the product creation team and development team. Have a clear understanding of the following:

o Patterns and pattern manipulation and implications.

o Mold processes and materials.
<br>
o Pricing structures and cost analysis.

User Experience Design Contractor (Harvard Square)

Vlingo, a Cambridge-based mobile software startup, is looking for a user experience design contractor with 2 years’ industry experience to lead the design and usability evaluation of new voice-activated features and of existing features on new mobile platforms.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as lead designer for one or more mobile software platforms. Design the user interface for new features and/or for features being translated from other platforms. Find simple, elegant ways to present complex concepts.
  • Recommend modifications for existing user interfaces; be on constant lookout for how we can make Vlingo’s applications easier, more satisfying, more compelling and more fun to use
  • Design, plan and execute usability testing, beta studies, and user research activities
  • Analyze study findings. Lead Engineering team in triaging and responding to identified issues; design solutions that meet both user needs and Engineering schedules
  • Ensure the entire product team is well-versed in user goals and expectations, and how those goals apply to the problems at hand
  • Help identify UI approaches and solutions that can be applied across platforms and applications
  • Mine usage data for key insights into user behavior

ABOUT YOU

  • 2-4 years as a user experience/usability practitioner, with experience in at least two of the following areas: user research, user interface design, usability testing.
  • All candidates MUST have a portfolio of relevant work
  • Passion for getting inside users’ heads and designing useful, intuitive and satisfying UIs
  • Highly creative, yet detail-oriented: able to generate concepts, and then design to the detail level
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a highly collaborative team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field such as human factors, psychology, anthropology or computer science
  • You don’t need software development experience, but you do need to be technical enough to learn platform capabilities and constraints, anticipate the user impact of technical design decisions, and work around the bugs that inevitably appear when usability testing pre-release software

  • Experience analyzing large data sets to identify usability issues or usage trends
