Contract eBook Production Assistant (Sudbury, MA)

Join Jones and Bartlett’s Media Services team as we enhance our position as one of the fastest growing providers of educational media and textbooks. The contact eBook Production Assistant will participate in the digital processes for production of digital textbooks and ancillary products with a strong emphasis on project management and technical prepress skills. Work with cross-functional teams to schedule, troubleshoot, expedite, and assist in maintenance, retrieval, and re-purposing of publishing digital assets.

Summary of Potential Areas of Responsibility, not limited to:

• Work with eBook Coordinator to prepare products for submission to eBook vendors, including gathering PDFs, preparing metadata, uploading and confirming vendor receipt, all according to individual vendors’ specifications. Use desktop publishing software to redact content as necessary. Maintain detailed documentation about processes and specifications for vendor submission.
<br>
• Work with the eBook Coordinator to fulfill media asset requests, convert and optimize media assets. Assist in re-purposing for ancillary products.
<br>
• Ensure organization of files on server, as well as helping to enforce archiving standards. Check consistency and integrity of download for compositors, illustrators, and printers.
<br>

Qualifications:
<br>
• Four-year degree or equivalent experience.
<br>
• Previous production experience.
<br>
• 1+ years experience with Mac and PC platforms in any of the major desktop publishing applications like QuarkXpress, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, Acrobat Distiller, etc.
<br>
• Must have had exposure to working in anything from 1/c to 4/c, 32+ page documents, maintaining styles across multiple documents. Must be knowledgeable of basic prepress and desktop publishing principles (RGB vs CMYK, TIFF/EPS vs JPG, TrueType vs Type 1).
<br>
• FileMaker experience is also desirable.
<br>
• Very accurate and detail oriented, sensitive to deadlines, strong creative problem-solving ability, ability to work on a wide variety of tasks.
<br>
• Excellent communicator and team player, able to work with many others in varied functions. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work within schedules are key requirements.
<br>
• While this is not a design-centric position, a demonstrated creative/design ability is applicable.

Summer Camp Art Instructor (Middleboro, MA)

Camp Avoda is a non-profit overnight Jewish boys camp located in Middleboro, Mass., on the shores of Lake Tispaquin at the Gateway to Cape Cod and the Islands. We are seeking either a live-in male Arts and Crafts Instructor (or female instructor who can commute) with the following qualifications:

The ability to operate a kiln and run a ceramics program;

teach leather work, gimp (lanyards), silk screening, tie-dye,
