DUTIES: Within Boston EMS, will review, analyze, and coordinate EMS billing policies, procedures, and issues. Coordinate the gathering, review, and processing of emergency transport reports. Serve as the key point of contact between Boston EMS and various private, third-party billing entities, and local health care providers, in regard to the billing process.

Gathers and assembles financial related data and prepares charts, graphs and tables along with narrative summaries to present such information for review and analysis; correlates operating statistics to billing, revenue, and budget; recommends appropriate billing levels and modifications to projected deficiencies in revenues.

Participates in periodic meetings (BPHC, BMC, billing vendors, local/regional boards).

Regularly deals with confidential material of a highly sensitive nature.

Responds to inquiries regarding revenue and billing recommendations.

MINIMUM RESIDENCY QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

BA / BS in Finance or Accounting, or similar field, required; masters a plus.

3-5 years experience in a financial setting.

Experience with medical billing and revenue development, forecasting and variance analysis; prior experience in financial modeling.
<br>
Thorough knowledge of rules and regulations of medical billing with both private third-party insurance, as well as Medicare and Medicaid; and a complete understanding of the billing process and procedures with each.

Knowledge and experience with MassHealth, Commonwealth Connector, and other public health insurance programs preferred.

Must be self-motivated with the ability to work effectively as an individual and as a member of a team.

Requirements: Candidates must have a BS in Accounting with exposure to cost accounting. 2-3 years of experience in a custom manufacturing environment is desirable.
